Top 10 Boxing Movies

Mark your calendars. Odd as it seems to May today be the day of Marky Mark (sans Funky Bunch) joins the company of greats such as Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stallone, Will Smith, Russell Crowe, and so on. Today, Fighter opens in theaters nationwide. With as much buzz and praise the film has received, it could very well end up going down as one of the best boxing movies of all time.

In light of the Fighter 's release, I thought now would be an appropriate time to this list. My top boxing filmova.Sport visited many times throughout the history of film. Here, although we have it narrowed down to top 10. So without further ado, my Top 10 Boxing Movies.

10 To play on the bone
Play It to the Bone has written and directed by Ron Shelton.Filmske stars Antonio Banderas and Woody Harrelson. Lolita Davidovich plays.

film is a story of two aging fighters, Cesar (Antonio Banderas) and Vincent (Harrelson), who were close friends. In the twilight of his career, the last two days fighting with the title shot for dočepa.Buntovnik: they will fight each druge.Dvije boxer shorts and a friend went to Vegas for his Undercard fights, accompanied by Grace (Davidovich), Cesar former girlfriend and Vincent. By the time we get a glimpse into their past, careers, and their competitive friendship. Come fight time, it should be a typical appearance that no one has the interest, it soon became a struggle the night as the two beat the hell out of each other. Cesar and Vincent leave everything in the ring with something to prove to themselves and each other, they "play to the bone." Definitely a fight to remember.

Now, Play It to the Bone is pretty much the critically panned. Call it for me as Woody Harrelson, or my stupid loser side, but I enjoyed it. There are a lot of humor, fun road trip, and one hell of a fight. Granted this is not the greatest movie, but definitely one of my more favorite boxing movies.

9 Reintroducing Champ
Reintroducing Champ written by Michael Bortman and Allison Burnett. It was directed by Rod Lurie and stars Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett.

Hartnett plays a young sports writer who rescues homeless "Champ" (Jackson) only to learn that "Champ" is a boxing legend believed to have mrtav.Pisac then stated that the Easter story champion and enrich their careers. the film is based on real events and the LA Times Magazine article of the same name.

Granted this movie is not so much about boxing, which is the basic theme of it as it is a down-on-his-luck boxer and former sports writer who seeks to restore and resurrect a man deprived of his story. What begins as a story of the resurrection of a man who once was great, it becomes a test of life and family. Samuel L. Jackson turns in a very good performance in this film. Bringing that level of humanity to the character, Jackson said the performance in the film first and foremost, and you can not help but feel for the Champ whole way through.

8 but
Written by Gregory Allen Howard and Stephen J. Quay, But is directed by Michael Mann. Will Smith plays the title role of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, and icons. Other roles include Jamie Foxx plays Ali's troops Drew Bundini Brown. Jon Voight stars and famous sports reporter Howard Cosell.

But is a biopic of the legendary boxer. It is necessary to look at his career in the title bout with Liston, his conversion to Islam to the famous Rumble in the Jungle.

Will Smith turns in an outstanding performance as the iconic boxer, and even weight gain for the removed part. Voight has also turned into a great performance as Foxx also do a fine job. On top of all that, the realism of battle like no other in any film, really. All fighters have played professional boxers. They decided that there would be "an illusion" to fight in this movie, but went for the right job. Even fights involving Muhammad Ali are real. For example, in Ali's fight with Foreman in the movie, Shufford (who played Foreman) is permitted to hit Will Smith as hard as he could contribute realizma.Jedino rule: do not really knock out Smith. Along with some great performances, some great fights and look at boxing icon, But is certainly good to watch.

7.uragan
Based on the book 16 Round and Rubin Carter and Lazarus and the Hurricane Sam Chaiton and Terry Swinton, the hurricane was directed by Norman Jewison. Denzel Washington stars in the title role.

hurricane is a biopic about boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. Carter was wrongly imprisoned for a triple murder and spent 20 years in prison before being pardoned. Although not as boxing movie, hurricane is more a story of iskupljenju.Priča about how love can overcome hatred and injustice. Washington gives one of the best performances of her career as a hurricane, and his supporters want to fight back against racism and hatred that imprisons him.

6 Requiem for a Heavyweight
Based on the teleplay written by Rod Serling, Requiem for a heavyweight is directed by Ralph Nelson.Filmske stars Anthony Quinn, Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney.

Anthony Quinn stars as Mountain Rivera, a boxer at the end of his career after beating from Cassius Clay. Being a proud man, the Mountain has put that pride aside in order to save a friend. Discovering that manager bet against him, Mountain can save his life getting a manager to dive .... in a wrestling match.

Requiem for a heavyweight gives a tight story and a memorable story (and even heartbreaking). With strong characters, Quinn does not play a great deal burned boxer. One of the memorable scenes from the film occurs at the beginning. Doing a point-of-view series (Quinn of view), the film chronicles Mountain actions with Cassius Clay as a flurry of blows flying on the screen / camera, Clay pummels mountains.

5 Diggstown
Written by Leonard Wise and Steven McKay. Directed by Michael Ritchie. Diggstown stars James Woods and Louis Gossett Jr., Oliver Platt and Bruce Dern star in the film.

Diggstown is the story of a conman (Woods), fresh out of prison, who stumbles on a little boxing-obsessed city to launch his latest scam. He bet with a local tycoon that he knows a man who could knock 10 men in 24 sata.Poslovni man (Dern) is taken to ulog.Conman is a fighter: over-the-Hill 48 years old fighter Honey Roy Palmer (Gossett Jr.) .

Diggstown is a pretty funny movie with a nice cast. You get a fun con / heist / caper type film mixed with a loser-style boxing film, making for an enjoyable time.

4 Cinderella Man
Written by Cliff Hollingsworth and directed by Ron Howard. Starring Russell Crowe. Renee Zellweger and Paul Giamatti also star.

Cinderella Man is the story of heavyweight champion James Braddock. After breaking his hand, boxing career apparently ended. He becomes a down-and-out man just trying to scrape by to support his family. That is until the day his former manager gets the performance it basically be a "punching bag" for the number two contender in the world. However, everybody's surprise, Braddock results knockout against a candidate. This adds a sparkle in his career as Braddock returns to the ring.

Cinderella Man is a big underdog story is an inspiring story. Although initially not well in theaters, the film went on to be highly praised by critics and audiences. It was nominated and won several awards. With the film, Crowe, Giamatti and Hollingsworth of receiving the award nominations for parts in this film, it's definitely up as one of the best boxing movies of all time and truly inspiring story.

3.Teže fall
Written by Budd Schulberg, and Philip Yordan. Directed by Mark Robson. harder they fall stars Humphrey Bogart in the last role before his death in 1957.

harder they fall is the story of jobless sportswriter Eddie Willis (Bogart), who hired the wrong promoter boksača.Novi announce his new line is big and impressive Argentine, but in the end without a talent boksača.Plan to build a crooked promoter fighter put the fight, then you bet against him in the title match. Eddie was then left in a conundrum, after starting as a giant boxer, a battle with myself about whether to tell you argentine or not that his fights are fixed.

Bogie gives a solid performance in his last film (which was already ill). The film is a gritty film for its time and stands as a very nice overview of the mob influence in boxing.

2 Rocky
Rocky is written by and stars Sylvester Stallone. While the first directed by John G. Avildsen, below are directed by Stallone himself.

For simplicity, I will include all the Rocky films here together. While some of May to discuss what their favorite, I still go with the first being the best. Rocky is an unfortunate story of a loser priče.Izvorna is a story about a small time boxer who got the chance to fight the world champion and proves that the heart and talent.

Rocky is an absolute classic. This is an inspiring and unforgettable film. This film is what put Stallone on karti.Film won an Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director and Best Actor nomination. It is also included in the AFI top 100 films of all time. Rocky is a definite must-see for all fans of the genre, and arguably the best of its kind in the area of sports movie for many.

1 Raging Bull
Written by Jake LaMotta and Joseph Carter. Directed by Martin Scorsese. Starring Robert De Niro. Also stars Cathy Moriarty and Joe Pesci.

Raging Bull is an emotional journey of self-destructive boxer Jake LaMotta, as the violence and temper that leads to his success in the ring, contributes to the destruction of his life outside the ring.

Many would argue that Rocky gets the first place spot. However, while I love Rocky Raging Bull is just a better film. This is probably Scorsese and De Niro best djela.Pravi classic. Raging Bull has been persisting in the sport and masculinity, as well as look at the personal demons. This is the film that put Pesci on the map and led to the famous pairing of De Niro and Pesci. This is an absolute must-see movie and one of the greatest films of all time.
